In the futile efforts to gain any momentum on finishing up my Strike Noir MG Gundam (all the lil backpack parts and missing the base for the one foot is really killing me on it). I picked up this lil SD stargazer gundam.

Sorry for my previous post to any who read it, its been removed.

After much thought, I decided for a light metallic feel for it. Using a mix of Tamiya White, Sky Gray, and Metallic Grey I went to work with my cheap Testors Starter Airbrush.... sadly I ran out of canned air about halfway through the first coat.  To add on to it, i forgot about pictures before hand as well. Sad

So... to remedy my frustration with the timing, went ahead to try and figure out the rest of the color scheme with and fixing seams.  I think i want to paint the chest and gauntlets in a light bluish purple but I'm not to sure just yet.

Ive never done any actual seem work before so in a blind attempt im using Tamiya Extra Thin Cement and Basic putty to fill in.

Going with a more neutral feel for the eyes, green just didn't feel right.

I'm split between brass and gold for the energy conduits (or what ever they are called) Any suggestions?

Looks like you are going great so far.  I hope when you ran out of canned air it didn't damage your air brush...

1)Yeah mix the two together, ad a touch of silver (like only a drop) and then see what you get. I did this years ago and it was awesome...

2) Looks like your doing a fine job so far make sure the serface is smooth and your happy with it. Keep up the good work...

They sure have come a long way since the gawd-awful SD HeavyArms a few years ago.

It's shaping up very nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks finished!

So I have a little more work done to my lil stargazer. Its mostly done now, except for a few things. Namely the rings, backpack and shoulder pads.

I would like to thank deathworld_dragon on the color combo, the touch of silver had me a lil scared on how it would turn out but it truly does stand out against the mix.

I tried my hand at using a micro marker (.005 i think) with the panel lines, worked great till i came to the goldish parts, which I will redo after another coat of the base color. For some reason the mix doest touch up right on the hips section and dries a lil discolored.  (sorry bout the pic)

Overall, besides trying to find a good color combo for the unpainted portions of the chest, gauntlets, and feet, i feel it is coming along nicely (least better than my strike noir at the moment)

Im thinking bout doing something different with the grey peices that the rings connect too but i don't know what yet... also how does using the same gold/brass/silver mix on the rings sound?

Ahh!!! Just as I remembered good mix and just the right amount of silver. Also why not go for the same mix for the rings. Also got to thank you for pulling it off in a visual display, I also need that mix for an up comming project. Your piece is really comming together and looks great, keep up the good work...

Ah... I made a booboo... I became a little bold and decided to mod the ring arms to have wiring shown inbetween the outer parts of each arm since i couldn't get the seamline on either of them and putty wasnt working....   but I ended up breaking the one half of both of them while trying to even out the edges.... Its a draw back but and I have no clue how to go at this to keep the structural integrity of the pieces.

So far I have drilled holes on each end to fasten them together but they look horrible at the moment... ill get pictures if i get a chance

Tri this, pull it together some how and super glue the troubled pieces and surfaces. After drying putty the areas you couldn't putty before. After drying file of sand those areas until it has returned to its original look, repaint if necessary...

Might work but will take awhile...
